Improving medical wellness in underserved populations
NYDG Foundation is a global network of experts, with in uence and resources, who come together to improve medical wellness in under-served populations. Our mission is to deliver on-the-ground education, prevention and relief to humans in need because we envision a world changed, newly confident in its skin.
November 2009 NYDG Foundatio’s Dr. Colbert, Dr. Malekzadeh and Christian Galan travel to Cambodia to hold a skin health clinic in Samlout through the patronage of the Maddox Jolie Pitt Foundation. In the course of the clinic, more than 100 patients were treated and local health clinicians were imparted knowledge on skin health.
January 12, 2010 7.0 Richter magnitude scale earthquake, Haiti. On January 29, 2010, Dr. Colbert travels to Haiti to assist with emergency medical care.
April 2010 Partnership created with the Hanger Sabel Foundation to establish a clinic to provide prosthetics and maintenance for those who lost limbs in the Haiti earthquake.
May 6, 2010 Fundraising Event in conjunction with RX Haiti, Scholastic NY, raises $350,000 to build a prosthetics clinic.
August 2010 Team Zaryen (Haitian amputees soccer team) forms, as a way for those recovering from limb loss to gain full agility with their prosthetics. The team becomes a harbinger of hope and travels to Rome to meet Pope Benedict XVI, on the ve-year anniversary of the earthquake.
December 2013 Desmond Tutu honors NYDG Foundation’s Dr. David Colbert with the Phelophepa Train of Hope Honoree Award.
May 2015 NYDG Foundation supports Un Dia d’Esperanza (Lima, Peru), to provide funds for psychological services for children with HIV/AIDS and advice on optimal nutritional health.
NYDG Foundation’s Dr. Colbert, Dr. Weiser, Dr. Perlmutter and Dr. Adams support the Up2Us Sports gala to bring funds and awareness for sports based youth development.
Collaboration with Haiti Cardiac Alliance: NYDG
Foundation donates to the life of a young Haitian who requires a life-saving maxo-facial surgery, made possible through the care and connections of Dr. Colbert and Dr. Weiser; provides for HCA to unlock $100,000 in life saving surgeries in the year ahead.
April - June 2016 NYDG Foundation partners with Madison Square Boys & Girls Clubs by providing the participation of Dr. Jessica Weiser of NYDG to community Health Fairs in Brooklyn and the Bronx, with the purpose of bringing wellness to 5,000 of New York’s highest needs children and their families.
May 2016 NYDG Foundation’s Dr. Colbert, board member of Up2Us Sports, is honored with the Legacy Award at the 2016 gala, with guest hosts including Lily Aldridge, Caitriona Balfe, Sandra Bernhardt, Gretchen Mol, Jennifer Nettles, Christina Ricci and Naomi Watts.
2016 Support continues for Up2Us Sports program of sports based youth development;
- Haiti Cardiac Alliance’s work on the ground in Haiti, providing pediatric cardiac care and educating Haitian medical providers on pediatric cardiac care.
- NYDG Foundation provides funds to support the physical therapy of a Chilean mountain guide in Patagonia who su ered a devastating spinal cord injury.
- NYDG Foundation contributes with $20,000 to the Hope for Rwanda’s Children Fund to provide scholarships through the patronage of the Elementary Teacher’s Federation of Ontario/ Canada (EFTO). EFTO’s program is intended to assist girls and women in developing countries to further their medical education.
January 2017 The NYDG product line is introduced to market. 1% of proceeds support the work of the Foundation.
